Cooking 101

On my mother's side I come from a long line of italian woman that can cook, and when I say cook, I mean whip up something out of nothing and make it taste better than anything you have ever eaten before. That kind of cook.

My mom is notorious for making things that look, taste, and smell beautiful.

On my father's side, there was my nana, she grew up in america but was of irish descent. My dad grew up eating cheese and mayo sandwiches and I remember eating mint jelly on crackers at her house- not exactly gourmet.

Before I got pregnant with Noah I would frequent the Nest's cooking board. I had just gotten married and babies were not in the cards at the moment so I though, hmm...why not give cooking a shot.  I found a recipe for something called garlic cheddar chicken. It probably took about 5 years off my life from all the fat and butter but damn did it taste good. That was about all I got from the Nest cooking boards, and soon enough getting pregnant was my new obsession and I forgot about my Rachel Ray aspirations and started obsessing about cervical mucus ( YUCK) .

Lately all I eat is junk, oh and my dessert of a nice glass of wine when Noah finally gets to sleep. I am always hungry and never have time to make a nice meal. Tonight as I am baking a Bertolli meal I am hoping that I get a bit of my mother's lineage and zest for cooking.

Hi there - Owen's mama here. I'm actually responding to the message you left for me a while back on his blog. Please email me at stacy@groundsforchange.com - I can't find any email address for you or any way to have a more personal conversation. Take care, Stacy
